Lamborghini vs Ferrari: Which Should You Rent in Miami?
Miami's two most iconic exotic car brands face off. We compare the Lamborghini Huracan and Ferrari 488 on price, experience, and street presence — so you can make the right call.
Every week in Miami, thousands of people face the same question: Lamborghini or Ferrari? It's a problem that most of the world only dreams about having. But if you're visiting Miami and budgeting for an exotic car rental, getting this decision right matters — you're spending $1,000+ per day, and you want to choose correctly.
We've driven both extensively in Miami. Here's our honest comparison.
The Cars
For this comparison, we're looking at the two most popular options from each brand available in Miami:
- Lamborghini Huracan EVO — 631 HP, V10, AWD, $1,250/day
- Ferrari 488 GTB — 660 HP, twin-turbo V8, RWD, $1,100/day
- Ferrari 488 Spider — same engine, convertible, $1,300/day
Visual Impact: Street Presence on Ocean Drive
Winner: Lamborghini — but barely
In Miami, both brands stop traffic. But Lamborghini's angular, alien styling generates more raw attention. People who don't know cars know Lamborghini. The Huracan's low, dramatic silhouette and scissor-door mythology mean children literally run towards it.
The Ferrari 488 is more classically beautiful — it looks like it belongs in a museum. Knowledgeable car people will appreciate it more. Random passersby will stare at the Lambo longer.
Sound: Which Is Louder on Collins Avenue?
Winner: Lamborghini (V10 vs V8 — no contest)
The Huracan's naturally-aspirated V10 is the greatest engine sound in the world at any price. It screams to 8,500 RPM and sounds absolutely unhinged at full throttle. Driving through a tunnel in Miami with the windows down is an experience you'll remember for years.
The Ferrari 488's twin-turbo V8 sounds excellent — but the turbos muffle the character somewhat. It's quick and crackles on overrun, but it doesn't have the V10's primal theatrics.
Driving Experience: Which Is More Fun?
Winner: Ferrari (on a circuit) / Lamborghini (on Miami roads)
The Ferrari 488 is the objectively better car on a track. It's faster, more adjustable, and more rewarding to drive at the limit. In competent hands, it would outpace the Huracan around any road course.
On Miami's public roads — speed bumps, traffic, valet approaches, highway merges — the Huracan's AWD traction and slightly more relaxed throttle response make it the more accessible, more comfortable daily exotic. You can put it in Strada mode, set the suspension to soft, and cruise the MacArthur Causeway without feeling like you're managing a live grenade.
The Ferrari rewards skill. The Lamborghini rewards enthusiasm.
Convertible Option
Winner: Ferrari (if open-top matters to you)
Ferrari offers the 488 Spider — the same car with a retractable hardtop that stows in 14 seconds. In Miami's climate, this makes an already incredible car genuinely perfect. Lamborghini's Huracan Spyder exists but isn't currently available in our Miami inventory.
If the roof-down experience on South Beach matters to you — and in Miami, it should — the Ferrari 488 Spider wins this comparison.
Price Comparison
| Car | 1 Day | 3 Days | Weekly |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lamborghini Huracan EVO | $1,250 | $1,063/day | $938/day |
| Ferrari 488 GTB | $1,100 | $935/day | $825/day |
| Ferrari 488 Spider | $1,300 | $975/day | $780/day |
The Ferrari 488 GTB is actually $150/day cheaper than the Huracan EVO. For a 3-day rental, that's a $450 saving — not insignificant when you're also budgeting for the deposit, insurance, and the inevitable dinner at Zuma.
The Verdict
Rent the Lamborghini Huracan if:
- Maximum street attention is the priority
- You want the most theatrical engine sound
- You've never driven a supercar and want AWD confidence
- You're doing valet-heavy, city-center driving
Rent the Ferrari 488 if:
- You want the open-top experience (Spider)
- Budget matters and you want to save $150/day
- You're a more experienced driver who appreciates precision
- Italian brand prestige matters as much as Lamborghini drama
Both are magnificent. You genuinely cannot make a wrong choice. But if we had to pick one for a single Miami weekend? The Ferrari 488 Spider, roof down, heading towards the Keys on a Friday morning.
